Robyn joined the staff at the Sorrento Centre in July 2019. She is in the position of the Resource Development Manager and will be managing grant applications and projects as well as doing marketing for the centre. Robyn has been involved in Economic Development and Tourism Development for over 19 years. Robyn started her Economic Development career in Squamish working for Community Futures Howe Sound and has taken her career throughout the province working for Community Futures, Regional Districts, and Indigenous communities in Squamish, Williams Lake, and the Shuswap region. Robyn was recently in the position of the Economic Development Officer for the Columbia Shuswap Regional District. She held this position for 11 years and included in her duties were the management of Shuswap Tourism - the Tourism Marketing and Destination Management Organization for the Shuswap region, and the management of the Columbia Shuswap Film Commission. Robyn has worked with the communities and businesses of the Shuswap region to complete and implement the Shuswap Tourism Development Plan, the Shuswap Tourism Marketing Strategy, the Shuswap Agriculture Strategy, and the Shuswap Economic Development Strategy. One of Robyn’s strengths is the ability to bring communities together to work on collaborative projects and to develop strategic partnerships. Robyn has been a board director of the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, the Tourism Industry Association of BC, the Adams River Salmon Society, and is a current director on the board of the BC Economic Development Association. Robyn's education includes the Business Administration Program through Capilano College, Non-Profit Management Program at SFU, and the Local Government Management Program at the University of Victoria. Robyn has also completed many economic development courses through the BC Economic Development Association. Robyn currently lives in White Lake with her husband and together they have 4 daughters, 4 grandchildren and spends her spare time with her horses, sheep, five dogs, and hiking, kayaking, cycling, snowshoeing, and Nordic skiing in the beautiful Shuswap region.
