Thousands visit the Sorrento Centre each year to engage their heart, mind, and spirit; to be inspired, meet old friends and make new ones. They come to rest and relax in a place of great beauty. Arts and culture, faith, music, spirituality, environment, theology, social and economic justice - these are just a sample of how our programs are deep and diverse. Our work with youth, from children to young adults, is well-respected. We are multi-generational - and provide a safe place for family to gather and a place of transformation for learning, healing and belonging. We are Anglican in tradition and ecumenical / interfaith in practice.
The Secwepemc Nation
The Sorrento Centre is located on the unceded traditional lands of the Secwepemc Nation. Before contact with Europeans, the Secwepemc peoples were gathered in more than 30 self-governing bands. Today, there are 17 bands. The Secwepemc people sought to live in harmony with the world – moving from place to place over the seasons to harvest animals and other food, including the bountiful salmon. The Secwepemc maintained a spiritual and practical respect for land, water, air, animals, plants, and all things needed for their survival – maintaining cultural and other practices that offer great wisdom and guidance in the 21st century.
