Join Bishop Lynne McNaughton, Diocese of Kootenay, as we enter into a special time at the start of Advent 2020. The season of Advent: Waiting carries new meaning as we enter a winter of pandemic. Scripture readings of the season sound a note of alarm and lament for Creation, and yet turn us again to promises of restoration of earth and human community. Using the theme of pilgrimage as a lens for tending to holy space, we will journey through the Advent themes that resonate with our lives today.
Bring: your favourite Bible, your journal, a box of pencil crayons, clothes, footwear (and walking poles if you want) for outdoors, comfortable old clothes.
Lynne McNaughton is the Anglican bishop of the Diocese of Kootenay (South Eastern B.C.) She taught Christian Spirituality for 13 years at Vancouver School of Theology. She has a doctorate of ministry in Spiritual Leadership from Columbia School of Theology. Since 1997, she has led pilgrimages to the Celtic lands of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Brittany, and Church History pilgrimages to Italy, Switzerland, France and Britain. She sees the Liturgical Year as a Pilgrimage of our journey towards God, an annual spiral leading us deeper into encounter with the Holy.
